Building the Jem Junkies Casting Shop From the Ground Up

Jem Junkies Casting shop where we will cast grillz, fine jewelry ,pendants, rings and more. Stay Tuned!

When people see the finished product — the shine, the fit, the sparkle, the confidence on someone’s face — they do not always see everything that happens behind the scenes.

At Jem Junkies, we have always been passionate about creating custom pieces that help people feel seen, stylish, and confident. Tooth gems and grillz are more than accessories to us. They are personal. They are cultural. They are creative. They are a form of self-expression.

But as our vision continued to grow, we knew we wanted to take things further. We did not want to only offer custom grillz. We wanted to understand the full process, respect the craft, and eventually create pieces with our own hands from start to finish.

So we made the investment.

We purchased the equipment needed to begin making jewelry and custom grillz in-house. From casting equipment to polishing tools, wax tools, materials, safety gear, and everything in between, we have been building out our casting shop piece by piece. This has not been a small undertaking. It has required time, money, patience, research, trial and error, and a willingness to be beginners again.

And honestly? That part has been humbling.

Learning how to make jewelry and custom grillz is not something you master overnight. There are so many details that matter — the scan, the model, the wax-up, the thickness, the fit, the spruing, the burnout, the casting, the finishing, the polish, and the final adjustments. Every step affects the next one. One small issue early in the process can show up later in a major way.

That is why we are taking our time.

Right now, we are in the fine-tuning stage of our casting shop. We are testing, adjusting, learning, and refining our workflow so that when we begin offering more in-house pieces, we can do it with confidence. We are learning what works, what does not, and what needs more attention. We are studying the craft, asking questions, practicing techniques, and pushing ourselves to get better.

This journey has given us an even deeper appreciation for jewelers, casters, setters, polishers, and every skilled hand that touches a piece before it reaches the client. Jewelry making is art, science, patience, and precision all at once.

For us, bringing this process in-house is about more than production. It is about ownership. It is about being able to create more freely, offer more custom options, control quality more closely, and continue building Jem Junkies into something long-lasting.

We are not rushing the process because we respect the process.

As a small business, investing in equipment and education is a big step. But we believe in where Jem Junkies is going. We believe in the culture around grillz, smile jewelry, and custom adornment. We believe our clients deserve pieces that are made with care, creativity, and intention.

This season is about learning. It is about building. It is about making mistakes, correcting them, and getting better every time. It is about turning our casting shop into a space where ideas can become real, wearable pieces.

We are proud of how far we have come, and we are even more excited about what is ahead.

The finished grillz may shine, but the real beauty is in the work it takes to get there.
